Bug Day!

All summer we wanted to take a day off of our normal routine and have a family day. James took the day off yesterday and we did just that. We were calling it bug day and did some of her favorite things.

First, we decided to skip a morning nap and instead, go to the ZOO!

Quick Family Picture before we left.
I think the sea lions were Amelia's favorite. She could get close and they were swimming like crazy.
Sting rays ... one of Daddy's Favorite.
Checking out the cool snakes
Mommy likes all the big animals: Elephants, Giraffes, and these Rhinos!!!
After a good long family nap we headed out to the pool for the afternoon! Bug getting excited in the car!
And we ended the day by getting some pizza.... of course, Bug's Favorite kind.

We had a good day and Amelia did well. It did, however, prove to me that she is still not ready for just one nap. We did have a few meltdowns at the Zoo due to heat, hunger, and tiredness.
Looking forward to more days like this!

Amelia wanted to show everyone her new toothbrush. Since she officially has one tooth and by the looks of it, 3 more pushing through, we decided that it was time. Although no stranger to putting things in her mouth, I'm skeptical about her being cooperative when we actually use it.

We also recently stopped by a new resale store and were able to get a few new toys. I love these stores. They usually some nice stuff, including clothes, for her without having to spend tons of money. It might be perfect for Christmas!

Amelia in her new pjs. The girl loves her dinosaurs.

This weekend she took her first "walk" For awhile now she has been taking a step here and a step there but never over any distance and such. I still wouldn't say she is walking... mainly because if she can get somewhere crawling, she does. But now we all know she can.

James

So, I figured I would dedicate a blog to my husband. Most updates are about Amelia ... but James does have some news.

James is officially James Humphrey, A.S.A! He passed his last test, with two more remaining. He sits for the next one in November, and with any luck, the final one in May. Then, new letters and DONE! All three of us are eagerly awaiting the "done" part to have more time with Daddy and not have to share him with his studies.

Another praise: James has had some health issues for some time now with seemingly no resolve. But lately, there has been some promising days. We hope and pray that those days are only the beginning. Either way, to God be the glory.

Growing...

We have hit a new season in Amelia's life, Toddler-hood and everyday I am reminded of it... or rather, she reminds me. She continually seeks out the undiscovered, she never stops moving, talking, laughing, screaming. And I feel slightly more connected to the mother struggling in the store with her crying child. Although Amelia still is very good, she has her moments :)

With her search for independence, naps have become more difficult. I don't think she is ready for one nap a day... and I'm not sure I'm ready either.

Walking she is still not doing yet, although she has taken a few steps here and there. Quite frankly, she feels like she gets around faster on her knees.

She says 'hi', 'momma' and calls for daddy in by yelling "DA!"

Anyway, she keeps life exciting and crazy. This is how we found here during naptime the other day... leg up, her preferred way to sleep.

Year One Pictures

We got Amelia's pictures taken last weekend. Here is a small sample of some. They were good ... just not great. We might try something else next time.

New Things

Seems like everyone is either cleaning out their houses or moving and thus, cleaning out their houses. My grandparents, for one, have moved up here from Jacksonville, FL. As it turns out, they have had to clear out some things they no longer have room for. We've benefited from some pieces of furniture ... now all we need is some place to put them.

skinny bookshelf: I love this but we are having a hard time deciding where to put it.

Very nice and Heavy oak dresser which Amelia will inherit soon after a few updates

This is my favorite! We also got a deep freezer from a friend. Love having more space for food :)
So after some rearranging, it has a home. Productive weekend!
